Tarrafal de São Nicolau: Tuna Festival is getting bigger and more popular – mayor

Tarrafal, 3 August (Inforpress) – The mayor of Tarrafal de São Nicolau, Neivo Araújo, said on Sunday evening that the Tuna Festival continues to grow in popularity, bringing a new economic and social dynamic to the municipality.

Speaking at the closing of the 11th edition of the event, the mayor highlighted the event's impact on supporting the income of local families and pointed to the transfer of the venue from Avenida Cadório to Praia de Campo Pedrada as a decisive step in boosting the festival's standing in the island's gastronomic scene.

According to the mayor, during August 1st and 2nd there was a significant increase in activity in the local economy, with the creation of temporary jobs and the presentation of a diverse range of tuna-based dishes.

In addition to the gastronomic component, Neivo Araújo revealed the municipality's intention to strengthen the educational dimension of the festival in future editions, including fishermen and fishmongers.
