Mindelo, Jul 29 (Inforpress) - The inauguration of the “'Catarse”' exhibition scheduled for Thursday, 31, in Mindelo, pays homage to the late artist Alex da Silva, also known as Xand, and marks the reopening of the Zero Point Art Gallery space created by him.
The exhibition is curated by Bli Coletivo and celebrates, according to the promoters, the artistic and social legacy of Alex da Silva, founder of the gallery, whose work and thought continue “to resonate strongly in the contemporary cultural scene of Cabo Verde”.
“Catarse” 2025 is a critical revisitation of the exhibition “Morabeza is a Joke” (2017) and proposes, according to Bli Coletivo, a debate on the idea of “morabeza”, questioning the symbolic and contradictory layers of Cape Verdean hospitality.
On the other hand, according to the same source, it marks the beginning of the `Morabeza is a Joke´ program, July 2025 - January 2026 season, at Zero Point Art Gallery, which will include, over the next few months, discussion groups, concerts and cinema sessions, among other activities.
