Mindelo, Sep 12 (Inforpress) - The councilor for Civil Protection at the São Vicente council said today that the municipality will demolish 36 tin houses belonging to families who were relocated after Storm Erin, which occurred a month ago.
Speaking to Inforpress, José Carlos da Luz explained that 12 of these houses have already been dismantled, in consultation with the families, with 24 still to be completed.
"We created a team to remove the homes of those who were relocated. The first step was to remove the electricity from these homes in partnership with the Cabo Verde Electricity Distribution Company (EDEC)," he said.
According to the councilor, the municipality will carry out “more efficient and permanent” inspections in the areas to prevent the occupation of spaces with illegal constructions, especially tin structures.
