Prime Minister announces two days of national mourning for deaths in São Vicente

Mindelo, Aug 11 (Inforpress) - The Prime Minister reported this Monday that the Government has decreed two days of national mourning, starting this Tuesday, because of the deaths caused by the rains in São Vicente,

Ulisses Correia e Silva announced this measure during his visit to the bereaved families, considering that São Vicente experienced “one of the most serious tragedies that occurred in Cabo Verde”. 

"I regret the loss of human lives, missing people, children, because it is indeed an irreparable loss," said the head of government, who left a "message of consternation, condolences, and strength for the families."

Ulisses Correia e Silva recalled that we are faced with the force of nature that challenges the creativity of men, and therefore, he observed, these are situations whose impacts cannot be fully predicted.
