Praia City, June 24 (Inforpress) – Former Justice Minister Joana Rosa today confirmed her candidacy for President of the Republic in the November elections, justifying her decision with the need for the country to have a moderating and conciliatory Head of State.
In statements to Inforpress, the candidate explained that the decision resulted from a long period of reflection, motivated by successive appeals from citizens who believe she has the appropriate profile to hold the position of influential magistrate.
"For a long time, I have been approached by many people who believe I have the profile to run for president. Since a presidential candidacy is a personal matter, I took a long time to consider this candidacy," she stated.
Joana Rosa justified her decision by stating that the country needs a President who acts as a "balancer of the system," playing the role of arbiter of the democratic system, ensuring the proper functioning of institutions and remaining close to Cape Verdeans both in the country and in the diaspora.
