Praia, 3 November (Inforpress) – The National Electoral Commission (CNE) has reminded employers in the public and private sectors of the obligation to grant employees time off for as long as necessary to exercise their right to vote in the presidential elections on 15 November.

The notice is contained in Resolution 45/Presidential Election 2026, approved at a plenary meeting on 23 October and published on the institution’s website.

According to the CNE, this decision aims to ensure compliance with the legal provisions regarding the facilitation of the right to vote for workers who are on shift on voting days.

The institution points out that Article 194 of the Electoral Code stipulates that those in charge of companies or services operating on election day must grant their employees sufficient time off to exercise their right to vote.
