World Cup2026: Tubarões Azuis walk through Mindelo streets to feel the warmth of the people

Mindelo, May 20 (Inforpress) – Players of Cabo Verde’s senior national football team walked through the streets of Mindelo today to feel the warmth of the people, expressed through smiles, waves, words of encouragement and positive energy on the road to the 2026 World Cup.

The footballers, who are staying at one of the hotels in the heart of the city, began their walk at Praça Dom Luís, heading towards Rua d’Praia, where the entire city seemed to breathe in unison with the Blue Sharks, as Cabo Verde’s national team is known.

They then entered Clube Sportivo Mindelense, the most successful club in Cabo Verde and former club of national team captain Vozinha, before heading towards the Fish Market.

There, they were enthusiastically welcomed by fish vendors and fish handlers and, according to coach Bubista, qualification for the World Cup belongs to the people of Cabo Verde, therefore the players should also be with the people to celebrate.
