Praia, 12 June (Inforpress) – The first five international players from Cabo Verde’s senior men’s national football team who are in a situation of financial or health vulnerability will now receive a monthly state pension of 75,000 escudos.
The measure is set out in Resolution No. 90/2026 of 11 June, published in the Official Gazette No. 70, Series I, which lists the following beneficiaries: Flávio de Pina, better known as Flávio; Manuel José Silva (Mané Djodje); José Eduardo de Pina Vaz (Zé Di Nhana); Frutuoso Tavares (Djudju) and António Pedro Ramos Silva (Dimas) are the beneficiaries who will receive this state pension awarded by the Government.
As explained in the document, this initiative by the Government aims to recognise the services rendered by these athletes to the nation through their representation of Cabo Verde in international sport, ensuring that their living conditions are commensurate with the significance of their contributions to the country.
This government initiative is further justified by the “crucial role” that sport has played in affirming national identity, promoting social cohesion and raising the archipelago’s international profile, serving as an “important” means of empowering citizens and upholding the values of Cape Verdean identity.
