Tarrafal, Jan 23 (Inforpress) – Repeated cancellations of CV Interilhas trips to and from the island of São Nicolau have been harming traders and, consequently, the island’s economy, trader Amadeu Araújo said today.
In an interview with Inforpress, Araújo said that more than 22 days ago he requested shipment authorisation for a Toyota Dyna to transport goods for farmers and fish vendors on the island, but each time the company alleges lack of space for the vehicle.
“Since the vessel Liberdadi entered the São Nicolau route, I have used my vehicle to support the transport of goods on the island, but for 22 days now I have had a shipping order and have been unable to send the merchandise,” he said.
He added that he transports goods for people from various parts of the island, and that the situation has constrained traders’ livelihoods and, consequently, the island’s economic development.
