Parliament/Government Programme: Francisco Carvalho promises structural reforms for “a more efficient state”

Praia, 17 July (Inforpress) – Prime Minister Francisco Carvalho today presented the Government’s Programme for the 11th Legislative Term, based on the vision of Cabo Verde Para Todos ‘Cabo Verde for All’, and called for structural reforms of the state, greater administrative efficiency, swift justice, and inclusive and sustainable development.

In the special session dedicated to the review of the Government Program and the motion of confidence, the head of the executive branch stated that the document responds to the aspirations expressed by Cape Verdeans in the legislative elections of May 17th, and aims to address the main economic, social, and institutional challenges facing the country.

According to Francisco Carvalho, Cabo Verde is facing an international context characterised by profound technological, geopolitical and environmental changes, requiring a state capable of responding to the challenges of globalisation, climate change and growing economic competition.

‘Cabo Verde’s future cannot be determined solely by external forces, but above all by the clarity of our aspirations as a nation,’ he said.
