Praia, Jul 29 (Inforpress) - Today in Parliament, the MpD replied to criticism from the PAICV by presenting data showing ‘significant progress’ in the areas of water, sanitation and agriculture since 2016, the year it took office.

The statements were made by MpD MP Francisco Sanches during the parliamentary session.

“We have to speak the truth," he said, pointing out that the water coverage rate has risen from 74 per cent (%) in 2015, the last year of PAICV rule, to 103.8 per cent currently. As for home connections, the national rate has now reached 47.9 per cent.

Francisco Sanches also highlighted the evolution of ‘per capita’ water consumption, which has risen from 47 litres per inhabitant per day in 2015 to 94 litres today, surpassing the national target of 90 litres.
