Praia, June 9 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verde Post Office (CCV) launched this Monday, in Praia, a commemorative stamp marking the first participation of the national football team in a World Cup, considered a historic achievement for Cabo Verde.

At the launch ceremony, the president of the CCV, Isidoro Gomes, stated that the stamp issue marks an unprecedented achievement made possible by the dedication of players, coaches and officials, emphasising that the initiative is the result of a partnership with the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF).

According to the official, the collaboration between the two institutions symbolises the unity of the Cape Verdean people around a common goal and marks yet another significant milestone in the country’s history. He added that this is the fifth commemorative stamp dedicated to achievements in national sport.

Isidoro Gomes considered it natural to associate the Cape Verdean Stamps (CCV) with Cabo  Verde's debut in a World Cup finals, arguing that the stamp will perpetuate the memory of the qualification among Cape Verdeans and collectors, both in the country and in the diaspora.
