Praia, June 4 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, appointed Francisco Carvalho this Tuesday to form the next Government of Cabo Verde, following the victory of the PAICV in the legislative elections of May 17.
The announcement was made by the Head of State after a meeting with the leader of the PAICV, with José Maria Neves describing the appointment as a political act that formally opens the process of forming the new government.
“I have just appointed Dr Francisco Carvalho to form a government. This appointment is an important political moment that occurs in all established democracies with the same system of government as Cabo Verde,” he said.
According to the President of the Republic, the decision is in line with compliance with the Constitution of the Republic and the institutional practices followed since the entry into force of the 1992 Constitution.
