Porto Novo: Visit of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg marks ‘special day’ for Santo Antão - mayor

Porto Novo, Jul 7 (Inforpress) - Today, the mayor of Porto Novo, Elisa Pinheiro, praised the importance of the visit of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg to Santo Antão, which, in her opinion, marked ‘a special day’ for the island.

Elisa Pinheiro, who was speaking to the press on the occasion of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg's visit to Santo Antão this Monday, said that Luxembourg's co-operation has been ‘a great partner in the development’ of this island, with investments in strategic areas such as health, sanitation, education and electricity.

Porto Novo was the first municipality to be visited by the Luxembourg delegation, which was welcomed with a celebration at the port and in the town hall square, with cultural activities.

Also in this municipality, in addition to visiting the student home and the technical school, Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg witnessed the inauguration of Rua do Luxemburgo, an act that, according to the mayor of Porto Novo, was a way of praising the support that this European country has given to the development of Santo Antão.
