City Council of Praia plans a joint waste management company to mitigate the garbage collection crisis

Praia, 11 June (Inforpress) – Carlos Dias, the councillor responsible for sanitation at City Council of Praia, announced today that the council plans to set up a municipal and public mixed-capital company to overhaul the entire waste collection process in the capital.

“The immediate solution is to have special transport for the garbage, because our trucks are old and can no longer handle this collection work for much longer,” the mayor acknowledged, emphasizing “the high financial burden and continuous wear and tear” that maintaining the current fleet entails for the municipal coffers.

According to the same source, the transition to a mixed company would represent "added value" for the city council because, as explained, it would facilitate the entire collection process and also the management of workers.
