UN-Habitat defends strong presence on the political agenda to take advantage of the gains in the urbanization field

Praia, Oct 3 (Inforpress) – The head of UN-Habitat in Cabo Verde, Jeiza Barbosa, today defended a joint work between the central and local Government and a strong presence on the political agenda to take advantage of the gains in the urbanization field.

In an interview with Inforpress, about World Habitat Day, marked annually on the first Monday of October, Jeiza Barbosa said she understands that urban development in Cabo Verde remains a major challenge.

“If I can talk about the legal framework, the structuring, in institutional terms Cabo Verde has everything in place to meet this challenge, what is really necessary is to continue to reinforce this issue in the political agenda so that this issue can be taken up and overcome this challenge,” she said.

For this reason, the focal point of UN-Habitat in the country advocates joint work between the central Government and the municipalities, ensuring that neither the central Government will succeed nor the municipalities alone will succeed.
