Praia, May 31 (Inforpress) – The study on the impact of tax measures on tobacco products reveals that the country has up-to-date legislation on the matter and a “very advanced” national framework for the fight against smoking.
this statement is made by consultant José Agnelo Sanches, who presented this morning, at the seminar to mark World No Tobacco Day, data from a study carried out in 2022, which also indicates that civil society and associations have joined the fight that has been developed over time.
“The country is also aware that investment in the fight against smoking has very positive results in terms of economy, both budgetary and health of the population,” he said.
According to José Agnelo Sanches, the foreseeable losses with the measures that are being taken are around 6% compared to the contribution of the tobacco industry in Cabo Verde, which is 1% in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
