The President of São Tomé defends appreciation of Parliament to avoid revival of anti-democratic tendencies

Praia, Mar 13 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Vila Nova, defended today, in Praia, the appreciation of Parliament as the seat par excellence of democratic legitimacy, as a way to avoid anti-democratic tendencies.

The Head of State of São Tomé was speaking at the special solemn session of the National Assembly of Cape Verde to welcome him as part of his four-day visit to the Cape Verdean archipelago.

Carlos Vila Nova praised the multiparty political system and the vibrant and dynamic civil society in Cape Verde, which, in his perspective, represents the sign of the vivacity of Cape Verdean democracy.

However, he stressed that democracy is never a completed work, which requires attention and permanent consolidation work.
