Tarrafal of São Nicolau: World Water Day marked with marching and cleaning campaign

Ribeira Brava, Mar 22 (Inforpress) – World Water Day was marked in the municipality of Tarrafal de São Nicolau with a marching and cleaning campaign promoted by the City Hall and the Autonomous Water Service.

The marching was attended by about hundreds of people, mostly students from schools and kindergartens in the municipality, who walked through the main arteries of the city of Tarrafal.

According to the director of the Autonomous Water Service, Carlos Silva, the objective was to alert the population to the “water deficit” that the world is experiencing, especially Cape Verde, which suffers from drought and the effects of climate change.

According to the same source, at the moment the municipality has practically 100% water coverage at home, with guaranteeing the quality of the liquid that reaches people’s taps the biggest challenge.
