Mindelo, Nov 29 (Inforpress) – The Ministry of Culture and the National Center for Art Crafts and Design (CNAD) delivered, in Mindelo, the “Created in Cabo Verde” Seal and the Craftsman Card to 20 national artisans with more than 65 years old.
The Seal and Artisan Card gives the possibility for these professionals to enroll in Social Security and market their products with the seal “Made In Cape Verde”.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, the Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente, said that with this delivery he is fulfilling another “great commitments” that is to “formalize” the whole sector related to the creative industries and the Art.
“From the moment the artisan has his card and is enrolled in Social Security all his income is taxed and controlled in order to understand what is the contribution of the handicraft sector in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP)”, explained the minister.
However, according to the official, the most important thing is to start replacing handicrafts “non-Cabo Verdean or not made in Cabo Verdean” that are being sold as Cabo Verdean, having stated that the products found in stores without the CNAD seal will be seized.
