Mindelo, Oct 12 (Inforpress) – The Minister of the Sea assured on Tuesday that the maritime emergency exercise (EMEX 22) held in Mindelo allows to strengthen the confidence of Cabo Verdeans in the maritime sector and show that institutions are prepared for accidents.
According to Abraão Vicente, the initiative, organized by the Institute for the Prevention and Investigation of Aeronautical and Maritime Accidents (IPIAAM) in partnership with Enapor, Enacol and Vivo Energy allows the citizen to see the practical usefulness of each institution in the sector.
“It is these exercises that demonstrate, in a way, the public utility of the institutional design we are doing and we have done together in recent years in Cabo Verde,” he said.
For the minister, the action gives evidence of “institutional soundness” and shows that the country is prepared for accidents and therefore asked, “it is necessary to multiply operations in other scenarios on other islands”.
This is because, according to the same source, the “future increase and complexity of operations” in Cabo Verde can bring other types of accidents, which “must be prevented”.
