Ribeira Brava, Mar 8 (Inforpress) – The Minister Fernando Elísio Freire announced this Wednesday the creation of the support line for Gender-Based Violence (GBV), 8001818, during the opening of the debate “Women in São Nicolau – facts, figures and challenges”.
According to the head of the Family, Inclusion and Social Development folders, who was speaking in Tarrafal of São Nicolau, this is a line of specialized assistance coordinated and supported by the Cape Verde Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG), which aims to provide answers to those who seek psychological support, counseling, information and guidance regarding Gender-Based Violence.
Line 800 18 18, according to the same, is already operational from 08:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and free of charge.
On the other hand, the official said that the Government is focusing on strengthening the support centers for victims, with the start of functions of another technician in Praia City, being in the process of hiring technicians for the islands of Sal and Fogo.
