Tarrafal de São Nicolau, Jul 18 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, said on Sunday, in the municipality of Tarrafal, that the Praia Branca hydroagricultural project will boost the sector.
Speaking to the Press, Gilberto Silva told the hydroagricultural project being developed in the locality of Praia Branca and said the “birth” of a new irrigated perimeter will support several families. “Regarding the project in Praia Branca, in fact the pipe of the borehole is already completed and in a week will be equipped.
With water available, there will be the birth of a new irrigated perimeter that will benefit about twenty families,” he said.
According to the minister, this project linked to irrigated agriculture will contribute to the increase in food production and, “above all”, provide income to families. The same source also said that they visited the site where a project will be implemented to value livestock activity in the municipality of Tarrafal.
The project, as provided by the minister, is budgeted in 10 million escudos and “includes” equipment of boreholes, photovoltaic panels, adoption and feeding of improved “corals” for goat and cheese production and will be located in the Ribeira de Areia. “It seems very interesting to us the project and as far as water is about we are already in the purchasing process and soon we will share the project as a whole with the livestock farmers and other partners”, he stressed.
