Porto Novo, Apr 17 (Inforpress) – The Regional Handball Association of Santo Antão has decided to resume the regional competitions this Wednesday to restore the games in arrears of the women’s championship and adjust the calendar of this event.
The Regional Association of Handball of Santo Antão had suspended, in the beginning of April, the competitions alleging “financial difficulties”, but, according to the associative leader, Abílio Gomes, “at the request of the clubs”, it was decided to restore the games in arrears in the female championship and adjust the calendar, while waiting for the resolution of the problems that affect the modality in the island.
Thus, this Wednesday, the teams: Madrugadores (Porto Novo) and Super Estrelas (Ribeira Grande) will play, in a game in delay of the second day of the first round of the regular phase of the championship.
The Regional Handball Association of Santo Antão, through a letter sent to the Cabo Verdean Handball Federation (FCA) and the Directorate General for Sports, recalled that this region has not yet received from this federation funds for the 2016/2017 seasons and 2017/2018, having, at this time, a debt of more than 140 thousand escudos.
