Assomada, May 7 (Inforpress) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Olavo Correia said that creating opportunities for Africans young people, including Cabo Verde, is not due to lack of resources, but to “incompetence” of their leaders.
The head of the Finance ministry spoke at the inaugural conference entitled “Competitiveness and business environment in a small island state – the case of Cabo Verde”, as part of the Business Week, Entrepreneurship and Management Week (US Business Week) promoted by Department of Economic and Business Sciences (DCEE) of the University of Santiago (US), which runs until Friday, 10th, in Assomada, Santa Catarina, under the theme “Overcoming walls, building directions”.
“The creation of opportunities for youth has nothing to do with the lack of resources, and has to do with the incompetence, especially of the leaderships of our countries. Cabo Verde and any African country has all the resources to be a developed country and the challenge is indeed in our leadership”, he said.
Olavo Correia, who said that the continent will have two billion people in the next 50 years, 60 percent of whom will be young people, said he needs to create about a million jobs a month for young people.
