Praia, 06 Mar. (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, expressed to his counterpart in Greece, Katerina N. Sakellaropoulou, his dismay at the tragic railway accident, which resulted in more than 50 deaths and numerous injuries.
The accident resulted from the collision of two trains, which occurred on the night of February 28, near the city of Larissa.
According to information made public today by the Presidency of the Republic, the head of state expressed this sadness in a letter of condolence, dated Friday, 3rd, and sent to his counterpart in Greece.
“In this moment of great pain and mourning, I express to Your Excellency, on behalf of the Cape Verdean people and myself, our deepest regrets and heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured,” José Maria Neves wrote in the letter sent to the newsrooms.
