Praia, Aug 26 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, heads a delegation that travels today to Luanda, Angola, in order to participate in the funeral service of former Angolan Head of State José Eduardo dos Santos.
The presidential delegation also includes the Minister of Justice, Joana Rosa, and some Members of Parliament.
The parliamentary group of the Movement for Democracy (MpD-ruling party) is represented by its leader, João Gomes, who is in Luanda, where he was part of the group of observers to the recent general elections in Angola won by the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA). The president of the African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV-opposition party), Rui Semedo, also MP, will represent the parliamentary bench of the black star party.
Silvino da Luz also goes to Angola to take part in the ceremony on behalf of the Association for Freedom Fighters of the Homeland (ACOLP). For the Cabo Verdean Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos was present at the “decisive moments” of the archipelago, besides being a “great friend” of Cabo Verdeans in Angola.
