Portugal: More than 30 companies applied for the Unicorn Factory Lisbon that could reach Cape Verde

Lisbon, Jan 17 (Inforpress) – Thirty-three companies applied for the Unicorn Factory Lisbon program, a project that the mayor of the Portuguese capital, Carlos Moedas, has already declared his ambition to also take to Cape Verde.

According to information released today by the City Hall of Lisbon, out of the 33 applications, six to eight candidate companies will be selected to join the 1st edition of the ‘Scaling Up Program’, which starts on January 30th.

“Seventy-nine percent of ‘scaleups’ have operations in Lisbon and already have an investment of 45 million euros and more than 840 employees”, revealed the municipality.

In November 2022, on the sidelines of the Web Summit, in Lisbon, with the aim of establishing the ambition to take Unicorn Factory to Cape Verde, the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, and the Government of Cape Verde, represented by the Secretary of State for the Digital Economy, Pedro Lopes, signed a memorandum of understanding.
