Praia, Oct 4 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean African Independence Party (PAICV, opposition party) expressed “surprised” by “sad news” of the death of Olivio Monteiro, former mayor of Santa Catarina, countryside of Santiago.
“The PAICV deeply feels the painful loss of comrade Olivio Monteiro, his illustrious militant who has always bestowed the best services to his country with love of the cause,” reads the PAICV’s note of regret.
To the bereaved family and, first and foremost “to their esteemed children”, PAICV addressed its “feeling of greatest regret, in this moment of pain for the loss of their loved one”.
Retired official of the Cabo Verde National Press in 2000, paired with former Prime Minister Jose Maria Neves and disputed the leadership of Santa Catarina City Hall, having been elected president of the Municipal Assembly. The former mayor of Santa Catarina and former prime minister, José Maria Neves, has already publicly paid tribute to his friend who considers “a reference of seriousness, truth, work, responsibility, vigor of mind and sense of the common good”.
