National Statistical Council meets this Tuesday with the preliminary draft new statutes on the agenda

Praia, Jun 25 (Inforpress) – The National Statistical Council (CNEST) is meeting in the City of Praia this Monday at its 2nd ordinary meeting, with the preliminary draft new statutes and the status of the work of the Praia Group in Governance Statistics on the agenda.

In statements to Inforpress, the president of the National Statistical Council, Raimundo Lopes, explained that the revision of the law of the national statistical system is one of the Government’s priorities considering that it was revised 9 years ago, hence the need to align and to frame the statutes of CNEST and INE to the latest world events and statistical systems.

He added that an opinion will be delivered during the meeting on the draft new statutes, which will be analyzed and discussed at the Council of Ministers meeting.

The meeting is also an opportunity to present the progress and status of the Praia Group’s work in Governance Statistics, the final version of the report on the application of the previous National Statistical System Law (Law no. 35 / 7th / 2009, of March 2) and the constraints encountered in its implementation.
