Mindelo, Jan 24 (Inforpress) – The replica of the Belém Tower, which houses the Museum of the Sea in Mindelo, reopens from this Monday, for the people of Mindelo and visitors who can thus know part of the history of Cape Verde.
The reopening act took place on Monday afternoon presided by the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva who highlighted the fact that “Cape Verde is a nation with history and the replica of the Belém Tower is part of that history”.
According to the same source, young people should be given the message of “being at peace with our history, but telling it completely”, knowing in advance that “Cape Verdeans do not need to be looking for where they come from because they already know its roots”.
Ulisses Correia Silva assured that the “small act” of reopening the first phase of the rehabilitation works “is much more than a building, but It also holds objects that speak of Cape Verdean history”. He asserted this referring to the inauguration of the temporary exhibition “Cape Verde on the Atlantic Routes: A look through Archeology”, which the infrastructure currently receives.
