More than 120 entrepreneurs compete for the first edition of the Bolsa Cabo Verde Digital – Government

Mindelo, May 21 (Inforpress) – The first edition of the Bolsa Cabo Verde Digital programme received more than 120 applications from young entrepreneurs, who will have the opportunity to develop technology-based solutions, which “gain other proportions” with COVID-19.

The “Bolsa Cabo Verde Digital” was launched in March this year by the Government, more specifically by the Fund for the Promotion of Employment and Training (FPEF), with the aim of giving Cabo Verdean youth a further “important opportunity” to develop technology-based solutions.

According to Government’s information, it received applications from 126 entrepreneurs, 88 of which are for the development of technology-based solutions. The selected projects, according to the same source, will soon be announced on the official pages of FPEF and Cabo Verde Digital, as well as on the partners’ channels, with the pre-incubation process to start in the beginning of July.

“This program is intended to encourage the emergence and consolidation of more ‘tech startups’, with a grant to finance up to 100 young people and a total of 50 projects, worth 30 thousand escudos a month to each entrepreneur, for a period of 6 months,” explains the Government, adding that it opted for the creation of this project which, in addition to the grant for a period of up to half a year, will also provide incubation facilities in one of the national reference companies, as well as the development of key competences.
