INIDA distinguished with the Terras sem Sombra International Prize  with its Botanical Garden

Praia, Oct 24 (Inforpress) – The National Institute for Agrarian Research and Development (INIDA) was awarded the 2019 Terras sem Sombra International Prize  in the category of Safeguarding Biodiversity, due to its Botanical Garden.

The information was released Wednesday by the Government through a press release, which states that several applications were analyzed, and the choice of INIDA Botanical Garden was unanimously approved.

The Grandvaux Barbosa Botanical Garden is the only botanical garden in Cabo Verde, located in Santigo Island, in the town of São Jorge, in the municipality of São Lourenço dos Órgãos. Its collection focuses on endemic and native plants of the archipelago.

The Terras sem Sombra International Prize, created in 2011, aims to honor a personality or institution that has stood out globally in each of the following categories: the promotion of music, the enhancement of cultural heritage and safeguarding biodiversity. The solemn award ceremony will take place on November 30 at the Campo Maior Cultural Center auditorium, under the presidency of Prince Leo of Hohenberg.
