Santa Maria, Jul 12 (Inforpress) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Olavo Correia believes that decentralization should be deepened in order to achieve the 2030 goals in Cabo Verde, because “closer” power is needed of people.
Olavo Correia made this assessment at the conclusion of the 3rd International Summit of Local Leaders, which took place during three days in Sal, in the city of Santa Maria, and ended on the afternoon of Thursday, under the theme: Territory as a space of innovation for the implementation of Agenda 2030.
“We need a power closer to people. This power has to be a power of proximity (…). It can not be a central power, as we have it today. We have to move forward to deepen decentralization and achieve regionalization,” he reiterated, noting the importance of political parties’ understanding on the issue.
Considering the current context of the Sustainable Development Objectives (ODS), Olavo Correia stated, on the other hand, that the speech of local power must be different.
