Forum: Leaders advocate the implementation and integration of human rights in sectoral planning, policies and programmes

Praia, Aug 23 (Inforpress) – CNDHC and CEADI representatives said today that “compliance with the SDGs can only be achieved by implementing and integrating human rights approaches into the planning, policies and sectoral programmes”.

The leaders of the National Commission for Human Rights and Citizenship (CNDHC), Zaida Freitas, and the Center for African Studies for Development and Innovation (CEADI), Guedson Rompão, are unanimous in this assessment made, in statements to the press, when they spoke of the 1st National Forum on Human Rights, held today in City of Praia.

“This forum coincides with the preparation of the 2nd Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development (PEDS) whose focus is on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this context, the CNDHC in partnership with the National Directorate for Planning and support of the United Nations System are developing a project aiming to integrate human rightsapproach into the planning, policies and sectoral programs”, said Zaida Freitas stressing that this decision aims at the fulfillment of human rights.

According to the president of the CNDHC, in order to comply with the principle that human rights must always be at the center of all decisions, it will be needed that targeted public policies positively discriminate specific regions, municipalities, localities, neighborhoods and groups.
