São Filipe, May 6 (Inforpress) – The restoration works on the Cova Figueira / Casinha road, in the municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo, were resumed last week after suspension during the emergency period caused by the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The works had started at the end of last year and will connect the city of Cova Figueira to the coast of the municipality and, according to the mayor, Alberto Nunes, its completion will not only unlock this area but also allow, in the future, implementation of projects, such as “Volcano City” that occupies the entire coastline of Santa Catarina, from Alcatraz to Bombardeiro, which is about three kilometers long.
In addition to the resumption of the restoration works on this road section, financed by the Tourism Fund, in the amount of approximately 24.500.000 escudos, the company that won the tender for the urban redevelopment of Cova Figueira, the same company that is rehabilitating the road, has the conditions to start the road section restoration works.
The urban redevelopment of Cova Figueira was awarded on March 17 this year, but did not start due to the new coronavirus pandemic, and should start in the coming weeks, according to the mayor of Santa Catarina do Fogo.
