São Filipe, Sep 24 (Inforpress) – US-born Cabo Verdean descendant Corey SantOne is launching a fundraising campaign to buy space to build the headquarters of the Bokarrom music school in Sao Filipe.
The initiative called “Fogo Project – access, support and opportunity, help build a space for music in Cabo Verde” aims to mobilize at least 20,000 dollar, close to two million Cabo Verdean escudos, to buy a space that at a later stage will be transformed to host the music school, aiming at the discovery of a new generation of artists from the island.
The campaign promoter, a hip hop artist who has worked with youth for over 25 years, intends, along with a friend, who is a music teacher in the United States, to mobilize in the Cabo Verdean community and beyond Massachusetts residents, musical instruments, equipment, and money to build a music education center in the island, and their dream is to give young people access and the tools to create art.
The school will be equipped with instruments and equipment so that young people can create, record and share art with each other, and the idea, according to the project, is to help the culture of Fogo, which is “rich in musical expression”. .
