Pedra Badejo, Mar 2 (Inforpress) – The FAO representative in Cape Verde, Ana Touza, promised this Thursday to continue to strengthen and deepen cooperation with the Municipality of Santa Cruz, especially in the field of agriculture, so that it can combat food insecurity.
Ana Touza was speaking to the press at the end of her visit this morning to Santa Cruz, where she held a meeting with the City Hall executive led by Carlos Silva. In addition, she visited the former agricultural company Justino Lopes, the historic center of Pedra Badejo, and the locality of Ribeira dos Picos, to find out about its potential and challenges.
“Santa Cruz is a municipality that produces many of the foods we consume here in Cape Verde and with enormous agricultural potential. We will continue with this partnership so that it can further develop all this agricultural potential”, promised the diplomat.
Despite all this agricultural potential, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Santa Cruz is one of the municipalities most affected by the food crisis, hence the implementation of a food security program in this municipality in Santiago.
