WHO does official delivery of equipment and consumables to IDNT II

Praia, Nov 26 (Inforpress) – The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially delivered the equipment and consumables for the Second Noncommunicable Diseases Survey (IDNT II), promoted by the Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The act of delivery, which took place at the premises of the Ministry of Health, was chaired by the National Director of Health, Artur Correia.

Speaking to journalists, this Monday on the sidelines of the event, Artur Correia explained that IDNT II focuses on a series of indicators that will allow a new start on the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases in Cabo Verde.

“We are currently preparing this second survey, hoping that we will soon have new, up-to-date data that allows us to plan, based on evidence, so that we can achieve better results,” he said.

IDNT II interviewers, according to the National Director of Health, are nurses in order to “facilitate” data collection as well as to give “greater confidence” in data collection. The same source also recalled that the country is in an epidemiological transition process in which communicable diseases are falling behind, while noncommunicable diseases are gaining ground.
