United Nations Agencies and Government sign annual work plans

Praia, May 7 (Inforpress) – The National Planning Directorate and the UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF Joint Office in Cabo Verde signed with the Government and 16 implementing partners 12 annual national work plans, budgeted at eight million dollars.

Following the signing of the United Nations work plan for 2018-2022, budgeted at US $ 41 million in the City of Praia, the cooperation between the partners was formalized for the year 2019.

According to the interim manager of the UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF Joint Office in Cabo Verde, Boubou Camara, $ 8 million will be allocated to work on strengthening human capital development, such as education, health, child and social protection, sustainable management of resources, preservation of the environment and biodiversity, strengthening of democratic governance among other areas.

This amount, he added, is the result of the partnership between the Government of Luxembourg and the European Union with the writers of the United Nations.
