Praia, Feb 13 (Inforpress) – The president of UCID said that his party will not oppose any name indicated for the new Ombudsman, as long as he meets the necessary conditions and the necessary party distance to perform his duties.
The leader of the Independent and Democratic Cabo Verdean Union (UCID – opposition party), António Monteiro, made these statements to Inforpress on Wednesday, from the Sal Island where he met the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, regarding this matter.
“The Prime Minister wanted to hear UCID’s position on this matter. We said that we are for the defense and enforcement of the law and the Ombudsman, from our point of view, has done a job that we consider very important for the country and, above all, for the citizens, already as his term expired should really be replaced,” he said.
António Monteiro also said that his party made a commitment to the Prime Minister to work towards the end of March, having this process completed.
