UCCLA Launches Award to Recognize Projects from Member Cities in Honor of Nuno Krus Abecasis

Lisbon, Sept. 1 (Inforpress) – The Union of Portuguese-Speaking Capital Cities (UCCLA) launched today the first edition of the Nuno Krus Abecasis Award – UCCLA Cities, to recognize, promote, and publicize outstanding projects developed by the cities that are members of the organization.

Awarded annually, the prize honors Nuno Krus Abecasis, mayor of Lisbon from 1980 to 1990 and the driving force behind the creation of UCCLA, an institution that, “over the course of four decades, has contributed to strengthening lasting relationships among Portuguese-speaking cities.”

The award encompasses four categories—Portuguese Culture and Language, Social Development, Green Transition, and Tourism—which correspond to key areas of focus for UCCLA and its member cities.

Exceptionally, in this first edition, the award will be given only in the “Portuguese Culture and Language” category, which is intended to recognize a city that has promoted initiatives of particular significance in this area, taking into account their specificity, originality, and impact.
