Two weather stations in Cabo Verde are now transmitting real-time data to the global network

Praia, 26 July (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde has made significant progress in its meteorological observation network, with two of the four stations scheduled to join the Global Basic Observation Network (GBON) having been transmitting data to the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) since June 2026.

The information was announced today in Praia by Ester Brito, chair of the board of directors of the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INMG), at the opening of the Workshop on Raising Awareness and Engaging Partners and Civil Society Organisations on weather and climate issues.

The event was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment, through the INMG, with the support of the international partners of the Systematic Observations Financing Facility (SOFF).

In her speech, the official stated that the results achieved during the first year of SOFF’s implementation demonstrate that Cabo Verde is turning a strategic commitment into concrete actions to strengthen national meteorological services.
