Tubarões Azuis deserve the first class of the Amílcar Cabral Medal for their historic achievement - PR

Praia, July 6 (Inforpress) – The Tubarões Azuis will be awarded the highest degree of the Amílcar Cabral Medal, the highest decoration of the Cape Verdean State, in recognition of their historic campaign in the 2026 World Cup, announced the President of the Republic (PR).

José Maria Neves made this announcement on Sunday during the reception ceremony for the national team in Praia, where the Head of State stated that the distinction represents recognition for the team's journey and the contribution made to the international affirmation and projection of Cabo Verde.

"The Tubarões Azuis deserve the first degree of the Amílcar Cabral Medal. The Cabo Verde national team will be decorated by the State of Cabo Verde," he declared.

In his speech, the Head of State evoked the difficulties of the past, recalling periods when the national team faced financial limitations, difficult travel, and empty stadiums, highlighting the progress that led Cabo Verde to compete on the biggest stage in world football.
