Trade union calls for a career judge with experience and integrity to be appointed as the new Attorney General

Praia, 4 August (Inforpress) – The Trade Union Association of Public Prosecutors argued today that the future Attorney General should be a career public prosecutor with recognised experience, leadership skills and ethical and moral integrity beyond reproach.

This position was reiterated by Elisa Mendes, chair of the administrative committee of the Association of Public Prosecutors’ Union (ASIMP), during a meeting with Clóvis Silva, Minister for Justice, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Parliamentary Affairs and the Media.

During the meeting, a number of issues relating to the profession were discussed, with particular emphasis on the appointment of the new Attorney General.

According to the press release sent to Inforpress, the association is setting out the criteria for the next Attorney-General, in line with what it had previously conveyed to the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, during a meeting held on 30 July.
