Lisbon, 9 July (Inforpress) – Prime Minister Francisco Carvalho stated on Wednesday in Lisbon that his government intends to deepen existing cooperation with the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) and strengthen its “historic and outstanding” partnership with Portugal.
Francisco Carvalho was speaking to journalists after visiting the CPLP headquarters where, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Communities and National Defence, Manuel da Rosa, he was received in a solemn session by the Executive Secretary of the CPLP, Maria de Fátima Jardim, and the permanent representatives of the member states.
The head of the Cape Verdean Government explained that the purpose of the visit was to demonstrate the importance Cabo Verde attaches to the CPLP and to reaffirm the new government’s commitment to strengthening the organisation and relations between its members.
“We will strengthen the relationship between Cabo Verde and the CPLP, ensuring stability in the relationship between the organisation and the member states of this extraordinary community,” he said.
