Praia, November 26 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic will lead a Summit of Leaders of the African Union in February 2026, as part of the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the African World Heritage Fund (AWHF), the organization's executive director announced today.
Albino Jopela made the revelation to the press in Praia, at the end of a meeting with José Maria Neves, whom he thanked for the "great support" given to the Fund.
The AWHF was created in 2006 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the African Union (AU).
The 2026 summit will aim to reflect on the Fund's results and mandate, plan its actions for the next decade, and mobilize the engagement of African leaders in the agenda for preserving the continent's cultural and natural heritage.
