Praia, 26 August (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, highlighted on Tuesday the progress made in modernising the country’s airport infrastructure, arguing that Cabo Verde needs “greater ambition and boldness” to accelerate its transformation process.
The Head of State was speaking to the press at the end of a guided tour of the main areas of Nelson Mandela International Airport in the city of Praia, which was organised with the aim of gaining an understanding of the current state of the infrastructure, assessing the achievements and challenges, and learning about the investment projects planned under the airport concession.
According to José Maria Neves, the visit enabled him to update his overall view of the sector, linking the situation in the capital with the observations made during recent visits to the international airports of Sal, Boa Vista and São Vicente, as well as to the aerodromes of São Filipe, Maio and São Nicolau.
“In fact, there has been great progress, it must be acknowledged. We have more modern, more attractive airports, with good investments in infrastructure modernization, and more comfortable for those who travel and use the airports,” he argued.
