The book “Celma, the lesbian director” by Levy Mendi wins the second edition of the Arnaldo França Literary Prize

Praia, Oct 30 (Inforpress) – Levy Mendi is the winner of the second edition of the Arnaldo França Literary Prize, with the book “Celma, the lesbian director”, announced Tuesday, 29th, the jury president, the jurist and writer Vera Duarte.

The announcement was made at Pedro Cardoso Bookstore, in Praia.

The Arnaldo França Prize is a joint initiative by the Cabo Verdean National Press (INCV) and the Portuguese Mint (INCM) of Portugal and aims to encourage literary talent in Cabo Verde.

In addition to the 500 thousand escudos prize money, the winner is entitled to the publication of the winning work in both countries.

The annual prize aims to honor the writer Arnaldo França, who died in 2015, to promote talent, literary production and the Portuguese language in Cabo Verde.

In the first edition of the prize, in 2018, the winner was Olavo Delgado Correia with the work “Beato Sabino”.
