The Bata Branca Project aims to bring specialist consultations to the islands with the most difficult access

Mindelo, 6 August (Inforpress) – The Bata Branca project aims to extend free specialist consultations to other islands, starting with São Nicolau, in order to bring specialist care closer to communities with the greatest difficulty in accessing it.

This information was disclosed to the press by one of the members of “Bata Branca”, José Luís Spencer, following a meeting with the President of the National Assembly, Janira Hopffer Almada, to whom he outlined the project’s objectives and requested institutional support for the implementation of the next mission.

According to José Luís Spencer, Bata Branca is a volunteer-run project set up to reduce inequalities in access to specialist healthcare across the islands. 

“It is an entirely volunteer-run project, in which a number of specialists, mindful of the disparities across the various municipalities, have volunteered to provide specialist care on islands where access is somewhat difficult,” he said.
